MagentaTV Expands Golf Coverage: Commentator Joins from Sky

Gregor Biernath leaves Sky to join MagentaTV, strengthening their new golf team ahead of extensive live broadcasts.

After securing exclusive broadcasting rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV is expanding its golf coverage. Starting January 15, 2026, MagentaTV will host 131 live golf events across two channels, becoming the new home for live golf on TV.

Gregor Biernath: ‘Something New and Positive is Developing for Golf’

Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognized voices in German-language golf broadcasting, is moving from Sky to MagentaTV. He will lead the new expert team, supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. On his move, Biernath commented: ‘The entire team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and good for golf is being created here. We can innovate and refresh golf coverage on MagentaTV.’ He also described the new team as a ‘cool editorial team’ and a ‘really good mix.’

New faces have also been brought in for commentary. Michael Born, previously known for handball and football commentary at DAZN, will join Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel in calling golf events. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known for ice hockey coverage at MagentaSport, will also be part of the upcoming live broadcasts.
