MagentaTV Expands Golf Coverage with Sky Commentator Gregor Biernath

Gregor Biernath moves from Sky to MagentaTV, enhancing their new golf team ahead of extensive live broadcasts.

After securing exclusive broadcasting rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV has now attracted a prominent commentator from Sky Sport. The broadcasts will begin on January 15, 2026, with MagentaTV offering 131 live golf events across two channels as the new home for live golf on television.

Gregor Biernath: ‘Something New and Good is Emerging for Golf’

Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognized golf voices in the German-speaking region, is moving from Sky to MagentaTV. He will lead the new expert team, supported by golf specialists Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. On his move, Biernath said, ‘The whole team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and good is emerging for golf. We can shape and refresh golf coverage innovatively at MagentaTV.’ He also described the new team as a ‘cool editorial team’ and spoke of a ‘really good mix.’

New faces have also been recruited for the commentary team. Michael Born, previously known for handball and football commentary at DAZN, will join Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel as commentators for golf events. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known primarily as a hockey presenter for MagentaSport, will also support the upcoming live broadcasts.
