The new TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons offer distance, forgiveness, and design in a complete package.
TaylorMade introduces the new Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons, presenting a new generation of game-improvement irons designed to enhance distance, forgiveness, sound, and feel, while also addressing aesthetic aspects.
TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL: The Next Generation of Game-Improvement Irons
A key development focus was the clubface. Due to its asymmetric design with a higher toe than heel, many game-improvement irons tend to bend unevenly on impact. This can cause additional cut-spin on toe hits, leading to shots that curve right. The Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons feature a clubface engineered to bend more uniformly, resulting in more stable ball launches and straighter ball flights without sacrificing ball speed.
Sound, Feel, and Internal Enhancements
Besides pure performance, feel was also crucial. Both models integrate a sound-stabilizing bar connecting the back bar to the topline, stabilizing the topline and reducing unwanted impact noises.
The ECHO damping system material was additionally positioned higher in the clubface, reducing vibrations and delivering a solid sound without losing desired feedback at impact. Custom-optimized clubfaces and new internal structures further support speed and consistent distance.
Two Setups for Different Player Types
The Qi Max irons target players seeking distance and forgiveness in a relatively compact design, with thinner toplines, shorter blade lengths, and less offset through a seamless hosel connection. Utilizing FLTD CG technology, the center of gravity is especially low in long irons for high launch and good stopping power, shifting higher in short irons to aid distance control. Speed Pockets in irons 4 through 8 maintain ball speed on lower strikes.
The Qi Max HL irons emphasize maximum forgiveness with larger clubheads, higher faces, and wider soles and toplines for increased stability and confidence. Their lofts are 3° weaker than the Qi Max, combined with ultra-light heads, shafts, and grips, benefiting players with slower swing speeds. This setup enhances clubhead speed, launch height, and stopping power equally.
New Design for Qi Max and Qi Max HL Irons
Both models feature a bright, monochromatic design inspired by the P-Series. Available as a steel version at 183 euros per iron and graphite shaft at 200 euros per iron, pre-orders open on January 8, 2026, with availability from January 29, 2026.
