As the original became a cult classic over the years, the time was right for a revival. And the wait was rewarded; the film became one of the most successful Netflix movies of the year, according to Josh Carpenter at Sports Business Journal.
Record-Breaking Streaming Numbers for Happy Gilmore 2
The film not only set a Netflix record on its opening weekend with nearly 47 million streamed minutes but was also watched for more than 6.2 billion minutes throughout the year, staying in Netflix’s weekly Top 10. It topped the global Top 10 list for two weeks and remained in the worldwide Top 10 for a total of five weeks.
