TGL Expands: WTGL to Launch LPGA Arena League in Winter 2026

The TGL is growing: The new WTGL will launch a dedicated arena league for LPGA Tour players by the end of 2026.

The idea had been in development for some time and has now been officially confirmed: the TGL is getting a sister league. This was announced during a press conference by TMRW CEO Mike McCarley and LPGA Commissioner Craig Kessler at the SoFi Center in Florida. The TGL is entering its next phase, this time featuring women.

WTGL: Familiar Concept, New Faces

What has worked for the men is now set to succeed in women’s golf, relying on a proven format: two teams, two hours, one match, played using a high-tech setup including simulators, real turf, and a shot clock. The live audience in the arena can see every shot in real time, as can viewers watching on television. Microphones are once again in continuous use, emphasizing personality as much as performance, explains McCarley.

A New Stage for Women’s Golf

For the LPGA, the new league represents more than just additional playing days. The TGL format has demonstrated an ability to reach new audiences who traditionally engage only marginally with conventional tournament golf. Over 40 percent of fans in the first season were between 18 and 49 years old, many of whom had little prior connection to golf. This reach is expected to benefit women’s golf with the WTGL.

Commissioner Craig Kessler, who took office in summer 2025, sees the partnership with TMRW Sports as a strategic move. The goal is for fans to get to know the players better and experience their stories—not just their scores. “We want to create closeness, trust, and put our athletes in the spotlight,” says Kessler. Interest is high, with many top players already expressing enthusiasm, some having visited the SoFi Center to watch the men’s matches.
