TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL: Next Generation Game-Improvement Irons

The new TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons offer distance, forgiveness, and design in a complete package. Details on these game-improvement irons.

TaylorMade introduces the new Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons, a new generation of game-improvement irons designed to enhance distance, forgiveness, sound, and feel while also covering aesthetic aspects alongside playing needs.

TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL: The Next Generation of Game-Improvement Irons

A key development focus was the clubface. Due to their asymmetrical construction with a higher toe than heel, many game-improvement irons tend to deform unevenly at impact, which can cause additional cut spin and shots that slice right when struck near the toe. The Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons feature a face engineered to bend more evenly, resulting in more stable ball launches and straighter trajectories with high ball speeds.

Sound, Feel, and Internal Enhancements

Beyond pure performance, feel was crucial. Both models integrate a sound-stabilizing bar connecting the rear bar with the top edge, stabilizing it and reducing unwanted noise on impact. Additionally, the ECHO damping system material has been moved higher in the face to reduce vibrations and provide a solid sound without losing feedback at impact. Optimized faces and new internal structures further promote speed and consistent distance.

Two Designs for Different Player Types

The Qi Max irons target players seeking distance and forgiveness with a relatively compact design, featuring thinner top edges, shorter blade lengths, and less offset as the clubhead flows seamlessly into the hosel. Using FLTD CG, the center of gravity is positioned low in the long irons to enable high launch with good stopping power and shifts higher in the short irons to assist distance control. Speed Pockets from irons 4 to 8 maintain ball speed on low strikes.

The Qi Max HL irons focus on maximum forgiveness, with larger clubheads, higher faces, and thicker soles and top edges to boost stability and confidence. Their lofts are 3° weaker than the Qi Max, combined with ultra-light heads, shafts, and grips to benefit players with lower swing speeds by improving clubhead speed, launch height, and stopping ability.

New Design for Qi Max and Qi Max HL Irons

Both iron models feature a bright, monochrome design inspired by the P-Series. Available as a steel version for €183 per iron and with graphite shafts for €200 per iron, pre-orders start January 8, 2026, with availability in stores from January 29, 2026.
