TGL: Atlanta Drive GC Extends Winning Streak Against The Bay GC

Atlanta Drive GC wins an exciting TGL match 7:4 against The Bay GC, remaining undefeated.

The roles before the third match of the new TGL season were clear: reigning champions Atlanta Drive GC came into the SoFi Center with an opening win, while The Bay Golf Club was making its debut this season. After 15 played holes, the final score was 7:4. The decisive lead was mostly built in the singles format by the team featuring Billy Horschel, Patrick Cantlay, and substitute Chris Gotterup, where Atlanta secured four out of six points. After an even start, Atlanta pulled away from hole 11. “We come in here, practice, play our game – it fits,” said Horschel. Despite the absence of the injured Justin Thomas, the team’s depth is evident. This marked the ninth win in the last ten TGL matches – an impressive record.

TGL: Gotterup Brings Atlanta Back Into the Match

For the second consecutive time, Chris Gotterup appeared on the scoreboard for Atlanta and was again a key player. After a scoreless start on hole 1, he put Atlanta ahead with a nine-foot par putt on hole 2. The Bay responded quickly by using their hammer on subsequent holes, taking a 2:1 lead. The first major momentum shift came on hole 6, known as \”Alpine.\” After The Bay had leveled, Gotterup chipped in for an eagle to bring Atlanta back even. Though The Bay did not use their hammer here, the emotional effect was clear: tied match. “I try to see as much as possible on the greens – with all the lighting, it’s not easy,” Gotterup later said. “But when you make putts like that, you know what to expect.”
