TGL: Atlanta Drive GC Extends Winning Streak Against The Bay GC

Atlanta Drive GC wins an exciting TGL match 7-4 against The Bay GC, remaining undefeated this season.

The roles before the third match of the new TGL season were clearly defined: defending champion Atlanta Drive GC arrived at the SoFi Center with a win under their belt, while The Bay Golf Club was making its season debut. After 15 holes, the final score was 7-4. The decisive lead was secured by the team featuring Billy Horschel, Patrick Cantlay, and substitute Chris Gotterup, especially in the singles format, where Atlanta earned four of six possible points. After an even start, Atlanta took control from hole 11. “We come in, train, play our game – it fits,” said Horschel. Despite the absence of injured Justin Thomas, the team’s depth shows. This marked their ninth win in the last ten TGL matches – an impressive run.

TGL: Gotterup Brings Atlanta Back Into the Game

For the second consecutive time, Chris Gotterup appeared on the scoreboard for Atlanta, again playing a key role. After a scoreless start on hole 1, he put Atlanta ahead with a par putt from nearly nine feet on hole 2. The Bay responded with the use of the Hammer on the following holes, putting Atlanta behind 1-2. The first significant momentum shift happened on hole 6, known as “Alpine.” After The Bay evened the score previously, Gotterup chipped in for an eagle to bring Atlanta back on level terms. Though The Bay did not use their Hammer, the emotional impact was clear: a tie. “I try to see as much as possible on the greens – with all the lighting it’s not easy,” Gotterup later said. “But when you’ve made those putts, you know what to expect.”
