TGL: Atlanta Drive GC Continues Winning Streak Against The Bay GC

Atlanta Drive GC wins an exciting TGL match 7-4 against The Bay GC, maintaining their unbeaten record.

Before the third match of the new TGL season, roles were clearly defined: defending champions Atlanta Drive GC came into the SoFi Center with a win under their belt, while The Bay Golf Club made their season debut. After 15 holes, the final score was 7:4. The decisive lead was secured by the team of Billy Horschel, Patrick Cantlay, and substitute Chris Gotterup, especially in the singles format, where Atlanta collected four out of six possible points. After a balanced start, Atlanta took control from hole 11. “We come in here, practice, play our game – it fits,” said Horschel. Despite the absence of injured Justin Thomas, the team performed well, showcasing their squad depth. This marked their ninth win in the last ten TGL matches – an impressive record.

TGL: Gotterup Brings Atlanta Back Into the Game

For the second consecutive time, Chris Gotterup appeared on the scoreboard for Atlanta and was again a key factor. After a scoreless start on hole 1, he put Atlanta in the lead with a par putt of nearly nine feet on hole 2. The Bay responded quickly with the use of the hammer on the next holes, taking a 2-1 lead. The first clear momentum shift came on hole 6, called \”Alpine.\” After The Bay had leveled previously, Gotterup made a chip-in eagle, bringing Atlanta back on level terms. Although The Bay did not use their hammer, the emotional effect was tangible: tie game. \”I try to see as much as possible on the greens – with all the lighting, it’s not easy,\” Gotterup later said. \”But when you make such putts, you know what to expect.\”
