TGL: Atlanta Drive GC Extends Winning Streak Against The Bay GC

Atlanta Drive GC wins an exciting TGL match 7-4 against The Bay GC, maintaining their unbeaten streak.

The roles before the third match of the new TGL season were clear: defending champion Atlanta Drive GC entered the SoFi Center with a victory from their opener, while The Bay Golf Club faced their first match of the new season. After 15 holes, the final score was 7-4. The decisive lead came largely from the team of Billy Horschel, Patrick Cantlay, and substitute Chris Gotterup, who secured four out of six possible points in the singles format. After an evenly matched start, Atlanta asserted themselves from hole 11. “We come in here, train, play our game – it fits,” said Horschel. Despite the absence of the injured Justin Thomas, the team’s depth shows as they continue their success. This marks their ninth win in the last ten TGL matches – an impressive record.

TGL: Gotterup Brings Atlanta Back into the Game

For the second consecutive time, Chris Gotterup appeared on the scoreboard for Atlanta and was again a key factor. After a scoreless start on hole 1, he put Atlanta ahead with a par putt from nearly nine feet on hole 2. The Bay responded quickly with a Hammer play in the subsequent holes, taking a 2-1 lead. A turning point came on hole 6, called \”Alpine,\” when Gotterup chipped in for eagle to even the score. Even though The Bay didn’t answer with a Hammer, the emotional impact was strong: the match was tied. “I try to see as much as possible on the greens – with all the lighting that’s not easy,” Gotterup said later. “But when you’ve made putts like that, you know what to expect.”
