TGL Golf Stars Share Their New Year’s Resolutions Ahead of Season

At the turn of the year, TGL reveals the New Year’s resolutions of its star players before their matchday.

Entering its second season, TGL continues its innovative approach: six teams, each with four top PGA Tour players, compete in a 3-on-3 format. The matches take place indoors at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a nearly 250,000 square-foot high-tech complex with seating for around 1,600 spectators. Instead of traditional 18-hole rounds, each match features 15 holes divided into two segments: nine holes played alternate-shot style (“Triples”) and six holes in direct head-to-head singles.

New Year, New Goals: How TGL Players Reflect on Resolutions

This unique stage brings familiar faces together, and as the new season begins, TGL offers insight into their players’ personal New Year’s resolutions, ranging from small to significant. Chris Gotterup focused on a practical resolution: making coffee at home instead of visiting Starbucks or Dunkin’ every morning, though he’s still learning to operate the coffee machine. Billy Horschel aimed higher, aiming to become a better version of himself, particularly off the course.

Xander Schauffele Prefers No Resolutions

Xander Schauffele kept it simple, stating, “I don’t do that. I am just me,” showing his straightforward nature without any desire for a show. Horschel joked, “We all wish we could be Xander,” to which Schauffele dryly replied, “I don’t know… maybe you’d be happier.”

Michael Thorbjornsen expressed a clear wish: to compete in more tournaments alongside Collin Morikawa, who liked the idea but had no resolution himself. Sahith Theegala was concise: “Stay healthy. Don’t play badly.” Justin Rose reflected on past resolutions that fell short and vowed to do better this year: “No more years where I don’t keep my resolutions.”
