At the turn of the year, TGL reveals the New Year’s resolutions of its star players before their match day.
Entering its second season, TGL continues its innovative approach: six teams, each with four top PGA Tour players, compete in a 3-on-3 format. Matches are played indoors at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a nearly 250,000 square foot high-tech complex seating around 1,600 spectators. Instead of traditional 18-hole rounds, matches consist of 15 holes divided into two segments: nine holes in alternate-shot triples and six in direct singles matchups. The season features five regular encounters per team, followed by playoffs including semifinals and a best-of-three final. Points are awarded following an NHL-inspired system, including overtime bonuses.
Coffee, Character, Continuity: TGL Reflects at the Year’s Turn
This unique stage brings well-known faces together on the course, as TGL offers insights into the personal New Year’s resolutions of its players at the start of the new season. These range from small to significant personal goals. Chris Gotterup took a practical approach: make coffee at home instead of going to Starbucks or Dunkin’ every morning. The machine is ready—just missing the operator. Billy Horschel aimed higher, aspiring to be a better version of himself, especially off the course.
Xander Schauffele Prefers No Resolutions
Xander Schauffele kept it brief. ‘I don’t do that. I am just me,’ he said dryly—a type who needs no show. Horschel was impressed. ‘We’d all like to be Xander,’ he joked. Schauffele responded dryly, ‘I don’t know… maybe you’d be happier.’

Michael Thorbjornsen had a clear wish: more tournaments with Collin Morikawa. Morikawa liked the idea but did not yet have a resolution of his own. Sahith Theegala was short and to the point: ‘Stay healthy. Don’t play poorly.’ And Justin Rose? He reflected on past resolutions that didn’t stick and is determined to do better this time: ‘No more years where I fail to keep my resolutions.’
