TGL Golf Stars Share New Year’s Resolutions Ahead of Season Start

At the turn of the year, TGL reveals personal New Year’s resolutions of its star players before their matchday. With its second season underway, TGL continues its innovative approach: six teams, each with four top PGA Tour players, compete in a 3-on-3 format. Played indoors at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a nearly 250,000 square foot high-tech complex seating around 1,600 fans. Instead of traditional 18-hole rounds, matches feature 15 holes divided into two parts: nine holes in team play (‘Triples’) and six in direct singles matches. The season consists of five regular team matches followed by playoffs including semifinals and a best-of-three final, with points awarded NHL-style, including overtime bonuses.

Coffee, Character, Continuity: TGL’s Outlook for the New Year

This stage brings well-known faces together on the course, and at the new season’s start, TGL offers insight into players’ New Year’s resolutions. These range from small personal goals to larger ambitions. Chris Gotterup took a practical approach: making coffee at home instead of stopping at Starbucks or Dunkin’ each morning. The machine is ready, but operating it remains a challenge. Billy Horschel’s goal was more fundamental: to become a better version of himself, especially off the course.

Xander Schauffele Prefers No Resolutions

Xander Schauffele was succinct: “I don’t do that. I’m just me,” he said dryly — the type who needs no show. Horschel was impressed: “We’d all like to be Xander,” he laughed. Schauffele replied dryly, “I don’t know … maybe you’d be happier.”

Michael Thorbjornsen had a clear wish: to play more tournaments with Collin Morikawa. Morikawa liked the idea but hadn’t set a resolution yet. Sahith Theegala was brief and direct: “Don’t get injured. Don’t play badly.” And Justin Rose? He recalled past failed resolutions and wants to do better this time: “Not another year where I don’t keep my resolutions.”
