TGL Golf Stars Share Their New Year Resolutions Ahead of Season

At the turn of the year, TGL reveals personal New Year’s resolutions from its star players before their match day.The TGL enters its second season with the same innovative concept: six teams each with four top PGA Tour players compete in a 3-on-3 format. Matches are played indoors at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a nearly 250,000 square foot high-tech venue seating around 1,600 fans. Instead of classic 18-hole rounds, matches feature 15 holes split into two parts: nine holes played in a team-alternate format (‘Triples’) and six holes in direct singles matches. The season includes five regular matches per team, followed by playoffs with semifinals and a best-of-three final. Scoring follows an NHL-inspired system, including overtime bonuses.

Coffee, Character, Continuity: TGL’s Outlook on the New Year

This stage brings well-known faces together as TGL shares insights into its players’ New Year’s resolutions ahead of the new season. These range from small personal goals to bigger ambitions. Chris Gotterup took a practical approach: making coffee at home rather than visiting Starbucks or Dunkin’ daily. The machine is ready, just needs operating. Billy Horschel took a broader view, aiming to be a better version of himself, especially off the course.

Xander Schauffele Prefers No Resolutions

Xander Schauffele kept it brief: “I don’t do that. I’m just me,” he said dryly – the type who shuns showmanship. Horschel was impressed, joking, “We’d all like to be Xander.” Schauffele replied dryly, “I don’t know… maybe you’d be happier.”

Michael Thorbjornsen expressed a clear wish: to play more tournaments with Collin Morikawa, who liked the idea but hadn’t made his own resolution yet. Sahith Theegala kept it short and simple: “Not get injured. Not play badly.” And Justin Rose? He recalled past failed resolutions and aims to do better this year: “No more years where I don’t stick to my resolutions.”
