At the turn of the year, TGL reveals personal New Year’s resolutions of its star players ahead of their match day.
Entering its second season, the TGL continues with its innovative approach: six teams, each featuring four top PGA Tour players, compete in a 3-on-3 format. Matches take place indoors at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a nearly 250,000 square-foot high-tech complex seating around 1,600 spectators. Instead of traditional 18-hole rounds, matches consist of 15 holes divided into two phases: nine holes in a team alternate-shot format (‘Triples’) and six holes in direct singles matchups (‘Singles’). The season features five regular-season matches per team followed by playoffs including semifinals and a best-of-three final. Points are awarded in an NHL-inspired system, including bonuses for overtime.
New Year’s Resolutions: Coffee, Character, Continuity
This stage brings familiar faces together on the course, and as the new season begins, TGL offers insight into their players’ resolutions. Resolutions range from practical to personal ambitions. Chris Gotterup’s goal is simple: make coffee at home instead of going to Starbucks or Dunkin’ every morning; he has the machine but hasn’t mastered operating it yet. Billy Horschel is more philosophical, aiming to be a better version of himself, especially off the course.
Xander Schauffele Prefers No Resolutions
Xander Schauffele was brief: ‘I don’t do that. I’m just me,’ he said dryly – the type who needs no show. Horschel admired this, joking, ‘We’d all like to be Xander.’ Schauffele replied, ‘I don’t know… maybe you’d be happier.’

Michael Thorbjornsen had a clear wish: to compete in more tournaments alongside Collin Morikawa, who liked the idea but hadn’t set a resolution himself yet. Sahith Theegala was succinct: ‘Stay uninjured. Don’t play badly.’ Justin Rose recalled past failed resolutions and aims to do better this time: ‘No more years where I don’t keep my resolutions.’
