At the turn of the year, TGL reveals personal New Year’s resolutions of its star players before their match day. With its second season underway, the TGL continues its innovative approach: six teams, each with four top PGA Tour players, compete in a 3-on-3 format. Matches take place indoors at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a nearly 250,000-square-foot high-tech complex with seating for around 1,600 spectators. Instead of traditional 18-hole rounds, each match consists of 15 holes divided into two segments: nine holes in team play (‘Triples’) and six in direct singles matchups (‘Singles’). The season features five regular matches per team, followed by playoffs including semifinals and a best-of-three final. Points are awarded following an NHL-style system, including overtime bonuses.
Coffee, Character, Continuity: TGL Reflects on New Year’s Resolutions
This unique stage brings familiar faces together, and at the start of the new season, TGL offers an inside look at its players’ resolutions. These range from small personal goals to significant life changes. Chris Gotterup took a practical approach: making coffee at home instead of visiting Starbucks or Dunkin’ daily. The coffee machine is set, now it’s about getting used to it. Billy Horschel aimed higher, focusing on becoming a better version of himself, especially off the course.
Xander Schauffele Prefers No Resolutions
Xander Schauffele kept it simple: ‘I don’t do that. I’m just me,’ he said dryly, a man who needs no showmanship. Horschel was impressed: ‘We’d all like to be Xander,’ he joked. Schauffele replied with a smirk: ‘I’m not sure… maybe you’d be happier.’

Michael Thorbjornsen had a clear wish: more tournaments alongside Collin Morikawa. Morikawa liked the idea but hadn’t made any resolutions himself yet. Sahith Theegala summed it up simply: ‘Not get injured. Not play badly.’ Justin Rose recalled past failed resolutions and vowed to do better this year: ‘No more years where I don’t keep my resolutions.’
