2025 Year in Review: The Best and Most Remarkable Shots of the Year

The 2025 golf season comes to a close. We look back at the biggest highlight shots and memorable moments of the year – the annual review.

As the 2025 season wraps up, it’s time to reflect. With the European Team’s Ryder Cup victory, Rory McIlroy’s Grand Slam pursuit, and many other highlights, there’s much to remember. Often overlooked are the individual shots leading to these successes, which can be as spectacular as the wins themselves. This year again featured legendary shots that players and fans will cherish for a long time.

Rory McIlroy’s Shot on 15 at the Masters

Arguably the most legendary shot of 2025 came at the 15th hole of the Masters. McIlroy was tied with Justin Rose and Ludvig Aberg after 14 holes. His tee shot veered slightly left, leaving him with a tree blocking his path for his second shot on the par-5 hole. While most players would play it safe to secure par, McIlroy took a full risk with a huge draw towards the green, landing the ball just beside the pin. This shot highlighted not only McIlroy’s skill but also his incredible determination to finally win the Masters and complete the Career Grand Slam this year.

Patrick Reed Makes Golf History with Albatross at US Open

Oakmont is known as one of the toughest golf courses worldwide, and the US Open is a tournament where shooting under par in a round can mean a title chance. Patrick Reed’s incredible second shot on the 568-meter par-5 4th hole during this year’s US Open made history. Using his fairway wood from 261 meters, he holed out for an albatross. This was only the fourth albatross in US Open history and the first ever at Oakmont.
