2025 Year in Review: The Best and Most Unusual Golf Shots of the Year

The 2025 season comes to a close. We look back at the biggest highlight shots and unforgettable moments of the year – the annual review.

As the 2025 season ends, it’s time to look back. With the European team’s Ryder Cup victory, Rory McIlroy’s Grand Slam achievement, and many other highlights, there is plenty to remember from this year. Rarely do we focus on the individual shots that led to these successes, yet these shots can be just as spectacular as the achievements themselves. This year, there were again legendary shots that players and fans alike will remember for a long time.

Rory McIlroy’s Shot on the 15th at The Masters

Arguably the most legendary shot of the year came at the 15th hole of The Masters. Rory McIlroy was tied after 14 holes with Justin Rose and Ludvig Aberg. His tee shot veered slightly left, leaving a tree between him and the green for his second shot on this par 5. While most players would have played it safe to secure a par, McIlroy took full risk and hit a massive draw around the tree, landing the ball near the flagstick. This shot not only showcased the Northern Irishman’s skill but also his relentless will to finally win The Masters and complete the career Grand Slam this year.

Patrick Reed Makes US Open History with Albatross

Oakmont is known as one of the toughest golf courses worldwide, and the US Open as a tournament where under-par rounds are key to winning. Patrick Reed’s fourth hole at this year’s US Open was incredible. On the 568-meter par-5, he used his fairway wood for his second shot and holed out from 261 meters for an albatross. It was only the fourth albatross in US Open history and the first ever at Oakmont.
