From seasoned pros to rookies, the German-speaking field was visible on all levels this year. The golf year in review.
What started in 1985 with the Green Jacket ended in 2025 with standing ovations on the 18th fairway. Bernhard Langer’s final appearance at Augusta was the emotional highlight of a golf year that also told many other stories from a German perspective: victories in Macao, London, and Gut Altentann, young talents in Munich, and experienced champions in North Carolina. Here’s the golf year in review 2025.
One Last Start at the Masters
Few moments defined the German golf year 2025 like Bernhard Langer’s final performance at the Masters in Augusta. After 41 appearances, two Green Jackets, and countless rounds, the 67-year-old bid farewell to the place that made him famous. Spectators rose to their feet, applause accompanied him down every fairway. His farewell round ended not with a weekend cut but with an emotional goodbye on the 18th green. Langer, accompanied by his son Jason as caddie, said goodbye to a place that shaped him and which he helped shape.
German Golf Highlights in 2025
But the last chapter was far from over. Those who thought Langer would hang up his clubs after the Masters were quickly proven wrong. A few months later, he showed he was still competitive at the WINSTONgolf Senior Open, setting a tournament record at 21 under par and winning on home soil. Shortly afterward, Alex Cejka celebrated his first title in two years at the SAS Championship in the USA, solidifying his position in the top 15 of the Schwab Cup Rankings.
The next generation came into focus weeks later when Nicolai von Dellingshausen secured his maiden DP World Tour victory at the Austrian Alpine Open with precise play and a timely eagle. Marcel Schneider joined him on the podium, while Marcel Siem posted one of the best final rounds, making this one of the most successful weekends for German golf on the European Tour with three Germans in the top five – a rare sight.
Laura Fünfstück won her first title after 115 starts at the PIF London Championship in summer, overcoming a shaky start in the final with clutch birdies and a decisive birdie on the 18th hole. Olivia Cowan complemented the German result with a shared fourth place.
At the BMW International Open, amateur Tim Wiedemeyer, 20, impressed by shooting a 66 on Friday to enter the top 15, moving ahead of established players like Marcel Siem, Martin Kaymer, and Yannik Paul, proving the German young talent is on the right path.
Dominic Foos celebrated his first Asian Tour win at the SJM Macao Open, defeating an international field with consistent play over all rounds.
Back on the big stage of the PGA Tour, Sepp Straka won the Truist Championship at Quail Hollow Club, claiming his first signature event win on the PGA Tour. Battling Shane Lowry and Justin Thomas, who tied second, Straka’s victory was his second
