Year in Review 2025: The Best and Most Unusual Shots of the Year

The 2025 season comes to an end. We look back at the biggest highlight shots and unforgettable moments of the year – the annual review.

As the 2025 season concludes, it’s time to reflect. With the European team’s Ryder Cup win, Rory McIlroy completing the Grand Slam and many other highlights, there’s plenty to remember from this year. Often we forget the individual shots that led to these successes, yet these shots are often as spectacular as the achievements themselves. This year, there were legendary shots that both players and fans will remember for a long time.

Rory McIlroy’s Shot on Hole 15 at the Masters

Arguably the most legendary shot of the year came on hole 15 of the Masters. After 14 holes, Rory McIlroy was tied with Justin Rose and Ludvig Aberg. His tee shot drifted slightly left, leaving a tree between him and the green for his second shot on this par-5 hole. While most players would have played it safe to better position themselves and secure a par, McIlroy took a high risk and executed an enormous draw toward the green, landing the ball just beside the pin. This shot not only demonstrated McIlroy’s skill but also his incredible determination this year to finally win the Masters and complete the Career Grand Slam.

Patrick Reed Makes History with Albatross at the US Open

Oakmont is known as one of the toughest golf courses worldwide, and the US Open as a tournament where shooting under par in a round gives a real chance at the title. Patrick Reed’s incredible shot on the fourth hole at this year’s US Open was remarkable. On the 568-meter par-5, Reed used his fairway wood for his second shot and holed it from 261 meters for an albatross. This was only the fourth albatross in US Open history and the first ever at Oakmont.
