LIV Golf grows in 2026 with an expanded field of 57 players, new qualification paths, and additional wildcards.
Starting with the 2026 LIV Golf season, 57 players will compete for points, victories, and team successes, enabled by extra wildcards and qualification opportunities.
Field Expands to 57 Players in 2026
The LIV Golf League will start the 2026 season with an expanded player field. Going forward, 57 players will be part of the league, up from a smaller previous field. The competition features 13 teams with four players each. Additionally, 5 wildcard players will compete independently of the teams but are guaranteed entries in all 13 regular season events.
New Qualification Opportunities
Through LIV Golf Promotions, three direct season start spots will be awarded in 2026. Previously, only two playing rights were granted via this qualifying format.
LIV Golf Promotions 2026: A Stage for Rising Stars
The third edition of LIV Golf Promotions will take place from January 8 to 11 at Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto, Florida. The tournament serves as the main qualifying event and will be played as a 72-hole stroke play. It features a special tiered system with multiple score resets, adding dynamic intensity to the competition.
On day one, the top 20 players and ties qualify for the second day, after which scores are reset. For day two, the field is supplemented by automatically qualified players, and again the top 20 and ties advance.
Another reset occurs before day three. After this phase, a 36-hole scoring over days three and four determines final placements. The top three earn spots in the LIV Golf League, while the top ten secure full status for the 2026 International Series.
