Bernhard Langer’s final appearance at Augusta was the emotional highlight of a golf year that still featured many other German stories, with victories in Macao, London, and Gut Altentann, young talents emerging in Munich, and seasoned champions performing in North Carolina.
A Final Start at the Masters
Few moments defined the German golf year 2025 like Bernhard Langer’s last appearance at the Masters in Augusta. After 41 participations, two Green Jackets, and countless rounds, the 67-year-old bid farewell to the venue that made him famous. Fans rose to their feet, applauding him along every fairway. His farewell round did not see him advance to the weekend, but ended with an emotional goodbye on the 18th green. Accompanied by his son Jason as caddie, Langer said goodbye to a place that shaped him and which he helped shape.
More Success for German Golfers Abroad
However, Langer’s final Masters did not mark the end of his career. A few months later, he demonstrated competitiveness by winning the WINSTONgolf Senior Open with a tournament record 21 strokes under par on home soil. Shortly after, Alex Cejka claimed his first title in two years at the SAS Championship in the USA, solidifying his position in the top 15 of the Schwab Cup Rankings. On the DP World Tour, Nicolai von Dellingshausen secured his first major victory at the Austrian Alpine Open, supported by strong performances from Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem, marking one of the most successful weekends for German golf on the European Tour with three Germans in the top five.
Breakthroughs and Emerging Talents
Laura Fünfstück captured her maiden victory after over 100 tournament starts at the PIF London Championship, coming from behind with key birdies on the back nine to clinch the win. Meanwhile, amateur Tim Wiedemeyer impressed at his home event, the BMW International Open, shooting a 66 in the second round to enter the top 15 and showing promising signs for the future. Dominic Foos added a win on the Asian Tour at the SJM Macao Open, displaying consistent play across rounds. Returning to the PGA Tour, Sepp Straka won the Truist Championship at Quail Hollow Club, his second PGA title of the season, moving up to 2nd in the FedExCup and cracking the top 10 in the world rankings. Stephan Jäger also had a strong showing with a bogey-free T7 finish and his third top-10 of the season.
