The 2025 golf season comes to a close. We look back at the biggest highlight shots and unforgettable moments of the year – the annual review.
As the 2025 season ends, it’s time to reflect. With Europe’s Ryder Cup victory, Rory McIlroy’s Grand Slam achievements, and many more highlights, there is much to remember from this year. Often, the individual shots leading to these successes are overlooked, though they are as spectacular as the achievements themselves. This year, once again, there were legendary shots that players and fans alike will remember for a long time.
Rory McIlroy’s Tee Shot on No. 15 at the Masters
Probably the most legendary shot of the year came at the 15th hole at the Masters. After 14 holes, Rory McIlroy was level with Justin Rose and Ludvig Aberg. His tee shot went slightly left, leaving a tree between him and the green for his second shot on this par-5 hole. While most players would have used the shot to improve position and play it safe for par, McIlroy took full risk. He hit a massive draw towards the green, landing the ball just beside the pin. This shot not only demonstrated McIlroy’s skill but also his incredible determination in 2025 to finally win the Masters and complete the Career Grand Slam.
Patrick Reed Makes US Open History with an Albatross
Oakmont is known as one of the toughest golf courses globally, and the US Open is a tournament where a round under par offers a real chance at the title. Even more incredible was Patrick Reed’s performance on the fourth hole at this year’s US Open. On the 568-meter par-5, he hit his fairway wood on the second shot from 261 meters directly into the hole for an albatross. This was only the fourth albatross in US Open history and the first ever at Oakmont.
J.J. Spaun’s 20-Meter Putt Wins the US Open
One never forgets their first major win, especially when it’s in such style as J.J. Spaun at the US Open. After four grueling days and a tough start on Sunday, Spaun made a comeback on the back nine, needing only a par putt to claim his first major title. Instead, he sunk a 20-meter birdie putt to seal the victory.
32-Meter Longest Putt on the PGA Tour Since 2008
At the Valero Texas Open on the PGA Tour, Patrick Fishburn became a tournament highlight despite finishing tied for fifth. On the 17th hole, he holed a putt from 32 meters, the longest on the PGA Tour since 2008, propelling him into the Top 5 on the final day.
Rory McIlroy’s Eagle Forces Playoff at Irish Open
A deafening cheer erupted on September 7 at the 18th hole of the K Club in Ireland when Rory McIlroy, facing a tough situation, holed an 8-meter putt for eagle, forcing a playoff
