From seasoned pros to rookies, the German-speaking field was visible on all levels this year in golf. The golf year in review.
One Last Start at the Masters
Few moments shaped the 2025 German golf year like Bernhard Langer’s final appearance at the Masters in Augusta. After 41 appearances, two Green Jackets, and countless rounds, the 67-year-old bid farewell to the place that made him famous. Spectators stood and applauded him across every fairway. His farewell round ended not with a weekend cut but with an emotional goodbye on the 18th green. Langer, accompanied by his son Jason as caddie, said farewell to a place that both influenced him and was influenced by him.
New Generations and German Successes on Tour
But the last chapter was not yet written for Langer. A few months after the Masters, he showed at the WINSTONgolf Senior Open that he remains competitive, setting a new tournament record with 21 strokes under par and claiming victory on home soil. Soon after, Alex Cejka celebrated his first title in two years at the SAS Championship in the USA, demonstrating consistency and solidifying his spot in the top 15 of the Schwab Cup rankings.
Later, Nicolai von Dellingshausen claimed his first big victory at the Austrian Alpine Open on the DP World Tour, supported by fellow Germans Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem, marking one of the strongest weekends for German golf on the European Tour with three players in the top five.
Notable German Highlights Beyond Majors
Laura Fünfstück won her first title after 115 starts at the PIF London Championship, overcoming an early final round setback to clinch victory on the back nine. Young amateur Tim Wiedemeyer impressed at the BMW International Open, shooting a 66 to break into the top 15, competing closely with established players like Marcel Siem and Martin Kaymer. Dominic Foos celebrated his maiden victory on the Asian Tour with the SJM Macao Open, showcasing steady play against an international field.
On the PGA Tour, Sepp Straka won the Truist Championship at Quail Hollow Club, marking his first signature event win and second PGA title of the season. This success placed him second in the FedExCup standings and brought him into the top 10 of the Official World Golf Ranking for the first time. Stephan Jäger also shone with a bogey-free T7 finish, his third top-10 of the season.
