Bernhard Langer’s Final Start at the Masters
Few moments shaped the German golf year 2025 as much as Bernhard Langer’s final appearance at the Masters in Augusta. After 41 participations, two Green Jackets, and countless rounds, the 67-year-old bid farewell to the place that made him famous. The crowd rose, applause accompanied him across every fairway. Though Langer’s farewell round didn’t see him through to the weekend, it ended with an emotional goodbye on the 18th green. Accompanied by his son Jason as his caddie, Langer said goodbye to a place that both shaped him and was shaped by him.
More Than a Farewell: Continued Success
Those who thought Langer would hang up his clubs after the Masters were soon proven wrong. Just months later, he showed his competitiveness at the WINSTONgolf Senior Open, setting a new tournament record of 21 under par to secure victory on home soil. Shortly thereafter, Alex Cejka celebrated his first title in two years at the SAS Championship in the USA, defending his lead confidently to solidify his Top 15 position in the Schwab Cup rankings.
Rising Stars and Major Wins
Weeks later, the next generation came into focus. Nicolai von Dellingshausen secured his first major win at the Austrian Alpine Open on the DP World Tour with precise play and a timely eagle. Marcel Schneider shared the podium with him, while Marcel Siem played one of the tournament’s best final rounds. This marked one of the most successful weekends for German golf on the European Tour, with three Germans finishing in the top five—a rare feat.
Laura Fünfstück claimed her first victory at the PIF London Championship after more than 100 tournament starts, overcoming an early deficit in the final with strong birdies on the back nine to finish with a winning birdie on the 18th hole. Olivia Cowan contributed with a tied fourth place.
Young amateur Tim Wiedemeyer impressed at the BMW International Open, firing a 66 on Friday to break into the top 15, finishing just behind Marcel Siem and ahead of players like Martin Kaymer and Yannik Paul, signaling promising talent for German golf.
Dominic Foos celebrated his first Asian Tour win at the SJM Macao Open, showcasing steady play across all rounds in an international field.
On the PGA Tour, Sepp Straka won the Truist Championship at Quail Hollow Club, his first signature event victory of the season. Competing against Shane Lowry
