Bernhard Langer reflects on his memories of the PNC Championship and playing alongside his son in this unique family event.
Bernhard Langer vividly remembers his first appearance at the PNC Championship. At the time, his son was still in high school—young, ambitious, and suddenly among golf’s elite. “We had a blast,” Langer recalls. “He had to play against pro teams—hitting drives and aiming for the green with an 8-iron, even though he was three over par.” It wasn’t about the score, though. “It was just a wonderful time.” That debut marked the beginning of a cherished tradition. “I loved this tournament from the moment I was invited.”
Legends, Majors and Family Bonds
The PNC Championship brings together players who have made golf history. For Langer, that’s a big part of the appeal. “Being out there with other Major champions and legends of the game is something special,” he says. But it’s not about trophies or prestige—it’s about sharing the game with family. “It’s one of my favorite tournaments.” Great careers meet small swings, with Langer at the heart—as both father and player.
A Holiday Tradition
The December date makes the event even more meaningful for many players, including Bernhard Langer. “It’s a wonderful time of year, right before Christmas, when families come together. It feels like a family reunion.” While the PGA Tour and other tours are on winter break, this tournament offers a unique blend of golf, camaraderie, and generational connection.
