Telekom Secures Extensive Golf Broadcasting Rights for MagentaTV

Starting January 2026, MagentaTV will broadcast PGA, DP World, and Champions Tour events. Majors remain with Sky.

Golf fans in Germany will have a new home for live coverage starting in 2026. Deutsche Telekom has acquired the broadcasting rights for PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Champions Tour events through its MagentaTV platform. The deal runs through 2029 and includes 131 tournaments in 2026 alone. Additionally, MagentaTV will air the Ryder Cup in 2027 and 2029. However, Sky retains the rights to all men’s and women’s Major Championships.

300 Days of Golf on MagentaTV

The new rights package includes approximately 300 days of live golf annually, spread across two newly launched channels: MS Golf 1 and MS Golf 2. These will debut in January 2026. MS Golf 1 will provide full-length tournament broadcasts, while MS Golf 2 will offer additional features, stories, and historical content. The service kicks off on January 15 with the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Dubai Invitational. All content will be available at no extra cost to MagentaTV subscribers and included in all plans. MagentaSport customers will also have access via their existing subscriptions.

“Golf has a new home on MagentaTV. With this package, we’re offering Germany’s most comprehensive live golf coverage ever. From the first tee shots to the final putts, we’ll present each tournament live, informative, and in a modern format. This offering is aimed at both seasoned golf fans and new, younger audiences discovering the sport,” said Arnim Butzen, Head of TV at Telekom.

Sky Retains the Majors

Despite losing a significant portion of the rights, Sky will continue to broadcast all Major Championships in the coming years. This includes the biggest events in men’s and women’s golf, such as the Solheim Cup and all five women’s Majors. As a result, fans who want comprehensive golf coverage, including weekly tournaments and the Majors, will need subscriptions to both MagentaTV and Sky.
