Breaking: Telekom Secures Broad Golf Rights for Magenta TV

Starting January 2026, Magenta TV will broadcast PGA, DP World, and Champions Tour events. Majors remain with Sky.

Golf fans in Germany will have a new home for live coverage starting in 2026, as Telekom’s Magenta TV has secured exclusive rights to broadcast tournaments from the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Champions Tour. The deal runs through 2029 and includes 131 tournaments in the first year alone. Additionally, Magenta TV will air the Ryder Cup in 2027 and 2029. However, Sky retains the rights to the men’s and women’s Major Championships.

300 Days of Golf on Magenta TV

The new rights package includes approximately 300 days of live golf annually, spread across two newly launched channels—MS Golf 1 and MS Golf 2—debuting in January 2026. MS Golf 1 will feature full tournament broadcasts, while MS Golf 2 will offer supplementary content such as player features, highlights, and historical segments. The coverage kicks off January 15 with the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Dubai Invitational. All content will be available at no extra cost to Magenta TV and MagentaSport subscribers.

“Golf has found a new home at MagentaTV. With this package, we’re offering Germany’s most comprehensive live golf coverage ever—from the first tee shot to the final putt, live and modern,” said Arnim Butzen, Head of TV at Telekom. “It’s designed for seasoned golf fans and new audiences alike.”

Sky Retains the Majors

Despite losing a significant portion of golf coverage, Sky will continue to broadcast all men’s and women’s Major Championships, including the Solheim Cup. These events remain among the most prestigious in the sport and ensure Sky maintains a strong presence in golf broadcasting.

To follow weekly golf action and the sport’s biggest events, fans will need subscriptions to both Magenta TV and Sky in the future.
