Bernhard Langer shares his fond memories of the PNC Championship and playing alongside his son in the family-focused event.
Bernhard Langer vividly recalls his first appearance at the PNC Championship. At the time, his son was still in high school—young, ambitious, and suddenly among golf’s elite. “We had a blast,” Langer says. “Back then, he had to compete against pro teams—hitting drives and aiming for the green with an 8-iron, even though he was three over par.” It wasn’t about the score, but about the experience. “It was just a wonderful time,” Langer reflects. That debut marked the beginning of a tradition he still treasures. “I loved this tournament from the moment I was invited.”
Legends and Major Champions at the PNC Championship
The PNC Championship brings together golfers who have shaped the game’s history. For Bernhard Langer, that’s a big part of the appeal. “Being out there with other Major champions and legends of the game is something special,” he says. But it’s not about trophies or prestige—it’s about family. “It’s one of my favorite tournaments.” Great careers meet budding swings, with Langer in the middle—as both father and player.
A Holiday Tradition with Heart
The December date makes the PNC Championship unique for many players, including Bernhard Langer. “It’s a wonderful time of year, right before Christmas, when families come together. It feels like a family reunion,” he says. While the PGA Tour and other circuits are on winter break, this event stands out as a celebration of golf, camaraderie, and generational connection.
