Breaking: Telekom secures PGA, DP World & Champions Tour rights

Starting January 2026, Magenta TV will broadcast PGA, DP World, and Champions Tour events. Sky retains the Majors.

Golf fans in Germany will see a major shift in TV coverage starting in 2026. After years of exclusivity on Sky, Deutsche Telekom has acquired the broadcasting rights for the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Champions Tour through its platform Magenta TV. The deal runs through 2029 and includes 131 tournaments in the first year alone. Additionally, Magenta TV will air the Ryder Cup in 2027 and 2029. However, Sky will continue to hold the rights to all men’s and women’s Major Championships.

300 Days of Live Golf on Magenta TV

The new rights package includes approximately 300 days of live golf annually across two new dedicated channels—MS Golf 1 and MS Golf 2—launching in January 2026. MS Golf 1 will feature full live coverage of all tournaments, while MS Golf 2 will offer supplementary content such as player features, current stories, and historical highlights. On-demand content will also be available. The coverage kicks off on January 15 with the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Dubai Invitational. All content will be included at no extra cost for Magenta TV and MagentaSport subscribers.

“Golf has found a new home on MagentaTV. With this package, we offer Germany’s most comprehensive live golf coverage ever. From the first tee to the final putt, we’ll show every tournament like never before—live, informative, and in a modern format,” said Arnim Butzen, Head of TV at Telekom.

Sky Retains the Majors

Despite losing a significant portion of golf coverage, Sky will continue to broadcast all men’s and women’s Majors, including the Solheim Cup. These events remain among the most prestigious in golf, ensuring Sky retains a crucial part of the sport’s broadcast rights. For fans wanting full coverage, this means subscribing to both Magenta TV and Sky will be necessary moving forward.
