Bernhard Langer reflects on his journey at the PNC Championship and the special moments shared with his son.
Bernhard Langer fondly remembers his first appearance at the PNC Championship. At the time, his son was still in high school—young, ambitious, and suddenly among golf’s elite. “We had a blast,” Langer recalls. “Back then, he had to compete against pro teams—hitting drives and aiming for the green with an 8-iron, even though he was three over par.” It wasn’t about the score, though. “It was just a great time.” That debut marked the beginning of a tradition that continues to this day. “I loved this tournament from the moment I was invited.”

Among Major Champions and Legends
The PNC Championship brings together golfers who have left their mark on the sport. For Langer, that’s part of the magic. “Being out there with other Major champions and some legends of the game is truly special,” he says. But it’s not about trophies or prestige—it’s about family. “It’s one of my favorite tournaments.” Great careers meet budding swings, with Langer at the center—as both father and competitor.
A Holiday Tradition
The December date makes the tournament unique for many players, including Bernhard Langer. “It’s a wonderful time of year, right before Christmas, when families come together. It feels like a family reunion.” While the PGA Tour and others are on winter break, this event offers a festive blend of golf, camaraderie, and generational connection.
