Marc Hammer earns Asian Tour card after playoff at Q-School

Marc Hammer clinches his Asian Tour card after a five-hole playoff at Q-School in Hua Hin. Other Germans miss the cut.

The final stage of the Asian Tour Qualifying School (Q-School) at the Lake View Resort and Golf Club in Hua Hin, Thailand, saw 35 players earn their Asian Tour cards. Among them was German golfer Marc Hammer. After five intense days of competition, China’s Lin Yuxin emerged as the Q-School medalist, topping the leaderboard with a total score of 16-under-par. The left-hander impressed with a final-round 67 (-4), continuing his consistent performance throughout the week (68–67–70–67).

Milestone moment for Lin Yuxin

Yuxin’s victory marks a significant milestone in the career of the highly regarded golfer. A two-time winner of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (2017, 2019), Yuxin played college golf at the University of Florida before turning professional in 2023. He has since competed on the PGA Tour Americas and select Korn Ferry Tour events. Struggles on the greens, which he described as mostly mental, had hindered his progress. “I played well all season but had putting issues, especially in the summer,” Yuxin said. “I worked hard on it in October and November, and my game has felt good since. It’s been a journey with ups and downs, but I’ve learned a lot since turning pro.”

India’s Shaurya Bhattacharya followed closely behind, finishing second at 15-under-par after rounds of 70–67–65–66–72. A final-round 72 with four bogeys cost him the top spot. Canadian Henry Lee secured third place at 14-under-par.

Marc Hammer prevails in playoff to secure Asian Tour ticket

The battle for the final tour cards came down to a dramatic playoff. Twelve players tied at 5-under-par for 28th place competed for the last eight available cards. The playoff extended over five holes, with eight players ultimately emerging successful—including Germany’s Marc Hammer. The 27-year-old from Sandhausen, Baden-Württemberg, delivered a steady performance throughout the event, closing with a 70 (-2) and earlier rounds of 71–67–72–70. Hammer, who has previous experience on the DP World Tour, demonstrated his competitiveness with three top-10 finishes last season.

Other German participants at the Asian Tour Q-School failed to make the cut after the fourth round. Nicolas Horder (T93), Philipp Katich (T100), Wolfgang Glawe (T118), and Julius Kreutzer (T118) all fell short of qualifying.
