Marc Hammer secures his Asian Tour card after a playoff at Q-School in Hua Hin. Other German players miss the cut after round four.
The final stage of the Asian Tour Qualifying School (Q-School) at the Lake View Resort and Golf Club in Hua Hin, Thailand, concluded with 35 players earning their Asian Tour cards. Among them was German golfer Marc Hammer, who clinched his spot after a tense playoff. Leading the field was China’s Lin Yuxin, who delivered a stellar final round of 67 (-4), continuing his strong form from earlier rounds (68–67–70–67). With a total of 16-under-par, the 25-year-old left-hander topped the leaderboard and secured his card in dominant fashion.
Milestone Victory for Lin Yuxin
Lin Yuxin’s victory marks a significant milestone in the career of the highly regarded golfer. A two-time winner of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (2017, 2019), Yuxin played collegiate golf at the University of Florida. Since turning professional in 2023, he has competed on the PGA Tour Americas and selected Korn Ferry Tour events. Putting woes, which he described as largely mental, had held him back. “I played well all season but struggled with the putter, especially in the summer,” Yuxin said. “I worked hard on it in October and November, and now my game feels good again.” He added, “It’s been tough, with many ups and downs. Honestly, I just had to stay patient. I’ve learned a lot since turning pro—it’s been a valuable experience.”
Close behind Yuxin was India’s Shaurya Bhattacharya, who impressed with consistent rounds of 70–67–65–66 before stumbling with a 72 on the final day, finishing at 15-under-par. Canada’s Henry Lee followed in third place at 14-under.
Marc Hammer Clinches Tour Card in Five-Hole Playoff
The battle for the final tour cards added drama to the middle of the leaderboard. Twelve players tied at five-under-par for 28th place entered a playoff for the remaining eight spots. After five playoff holes, eight players emerged with Asian Tour cards, including Germany’s Marc Hammer from Sandhausen. The 27-year-old delivered a steady performance throughout the tournament, finishing with a final-round 70 (-2) and earlier rounds of 71–67–72–70. Hammer, who has previous experience on the DP World Tour, proved his competitiveness last season with three top-10 finishes.
Other German participants at the Asian Tour Q-School failed to make the cut after the fourth round. Nicolas Horder (T93), Philipp Katich (T100), Wolfgang Glawe (T118), and Julius Kreutzer (T118) all missed out on securing a tour card.
