Jayden Schaper claims back-to-back DP World Tour victories with a dramatic chip-in eagle at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.
South African golfer Jayden Schaper delivered another stunning performance to win the 2025 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, securing his second consecutive DP World Tour title in a playoff. The tournament, held at La Réserve Golf Links on the picturesque island of Mauritius, concluded the DP World Tour season in spectacular fashion.
Schaper, 24, started strong with two birdies and an eagle on the front nine, followed by four more birdies on the back nine to card an impressive 64 (-8) in the final round. American Ryan Gerard kept the pressure on with a bogey-free 66 (-6), featuring six birdies, which brought both players to a tie at 22-under-par.
The playoff was decided on the second extra hole, where Schaper sealed the victory with a sensational chip-in eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. The win marks Schaper’s second straight playoff triumph, following his victory at the Alfred Dunhill Championship the previous week.
DP World Tour: Schaper ends the year on a high
“The last three weeks have been incredible. I don’t even know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like this,” said an emotional Schaper after his win. “It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course — from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas is going to be great, and so will the New Year.”
Fellow South African Casey Jarvis claimed third place after a steady week. His final round included four birdies and three bogeys, resulting in a 71 and a solid finish near the top of the leaderboard.
Mixed results for German players
German golfers Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider, who had kept pace with each other throughout the tournament, struggled on the final day. Schneider started well but faltered on the back nine, recording three bogeys and a double bogey to finish with a 78, dropping to T37 at four-under-par.
Siem also had a tough round, with three birdies offset by two bogeys and three double bogeys, ending with a 76 and matching Schneider’s overall score. Nick Bachem, the third German to make the cut, shot even par on Sunday and finished T48 at one-under-par.
