Jayden Schaper wins back-to-back titles on DP World Tour

Jayden Schaper claims the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open title with a dramatic chip-in eagle in a playoff.

South African golfer Jayden Schaper has done it again. At the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the La Réserve Golf Links, Schaper secured his second consecutive DP World Tour victory in spectacular fashion. Just a week after winning the Alfred Dunhill Championship, he triumphed once more—this time defeating American Ryan Gerard in a playoff with a stunning chip-in eagle.

Schaper started strong with two birdies on the front nine and added an eagle on the 5th hole. He kept the momentum going with four more birdies on the back nine, finishing the final round with an impressive 64 (-8). Gerard kept the pressure on throughout the day, carding a bogey-free 66 (-6) with six birdies, leading to a tie at 22-under-par after 72 holes.

The playoff was decided on the second extra hole, where Schaper sealed his victory with a brilliant chip-in for eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. With this win, Schaper closes out 2025 with back-to-back titles on the DP World Tour, both achieved in playoffs.

Schaper on his win: ‘I couldn’t have asked for more’

Speaking after the win, an emotional Schaper reflected on his incredible run: ‘The last three weeks have been unbelievable. I don’t know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like this. It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course—from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for more. Christmas is going to be great this year, and so is the new year.’

Fellow South African Casey Jarvis claimed third place after a steady performance throughout the week. His final round included four birdies and three bogeys, resulting in a 71.

Mixed results for German players

German golfers Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider, who had been closely matched throughout the tournament, both struggled on the final day. Schneider posted a 78 (+6), slipping to a tie for 37th at four-under-par. Siem also finished T37 after a 76 (+4), which included three birdies, two bogeys, and three double bogeys.

Nick Bachem, the third German to make the cut, shot even par in the final round and ended the tournament at one-under-par, tied for 48th place.
