Marc Hammer earns Asian Tour card after playoff at Q-School in Thailand

Marc Hammer secures his Asian Tour card after a tense playoff at Q-School in Hua Hin. Other Germans miss the cut.

The final stage of the Asian Tour Qualifying School (Q-School) at the Lake View Resort and Golf Club in Hua Hin, Thailand, concluded with 35 players earning their tour cards—including Germany’s Marc Hammer. After five intense days, China’s Lin Yuxin topped the leaderboard, leading the Q-School field. The left-hander impressed with a final-round 67 (-4), continuing his strong form from earlier rounds (68–67–70–67). Finishing at 16-under-par, the 25-year-old claimed the top spot and secured his Asian Tour card in dominant fashion.

Milestone moment for Lin Yuxin

Lin’s victory marks a significant milestone in the career of the highly regarded golfer. A two-time Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship winner (2017, 2019), he played collegiate golf at the University of Florida. Since turning professional in 2023, Yuxin has competed on the PGA Tour Americas and select Korn Ferry Tour events. Struggles on the greens—mostly mental, he admits—had held him back. “I’ve played well all season but had putting issues, especially in the summer,” he said. “I worked hard on it in October and November, and my game has felt good since.” He added, “It’s been tough with many ups and downs. Honestly, I just had to stay patient. I’ve learned a lot since turning pro—it’s been a valuable experience.”

India’s Shaurya Bhattacharya followed closely behind, delivering consistent rounds (70–67–65–66) before slipping with a 72 and four bogeys on the final day. He finished second at 15-under-par. Canada’s Henry Lee took third place at 14-under.

Marc Hammer prevails in playoff to earn Asian Tour card

The middle of the leaderboard saw high drama as 12 players tied at five-under-par vied for the final eight tour cards in a playoff. The sudden-death battle stretched over five holes, ultimately awarding cards to eight players—including Germany’s Marc Hammer from Sandhausen. The 27-year-old delivered a steady performance throughout the tournament, closing with a 70 (-2) to complement his earlier rounds (71–67–72–70). His consistency paid off with a coveted Asian Tour card. Hammer, who has experience on the DP World Tour, recorded three top-10 finishes last season, showcasing his competitive edge.

Other German participants at the Q-School failed to make the cut after the fourth round. Nicolas Horder (T93), Philipp Katich (T100), Wolfgang Glawe (T118), and Julius Kreutzer (T118) all missed out on qualifying.
