Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem impressed on Moving Day at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, heading into the final round in strong positions.
At the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour, both Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem delivered excellent performances on Saturday to climb the leaderboard. Schneider carded a six-under-par 66 to move into a tie for 9th, while Siem shot a 68 to reach T14. The tournament is led by South Africa’s Casey Jarvis and American Ryan Gerard, both at 16 under par. Gerard stood out with a sensational 63, the best round of the day.
DP World Tour: Schneider nearly flawless, Siem surges late
Marcel Schneider played a nearly flawless round to break into the top 10. After opening with a birdie on the 4th, he added two more on holes 5 and 6, followed by another on the 8th. His only blemish came on the 9th, where he made bogey — the same hole that troubled him on the previous two days. Unfazed, the 35-year-old bounced back with birdies on 12, 13, and 14 to finish with a 66.
Marcel Siem had a slower start, with just one birdie on the front nine at hole 3. A bogey on 10 set him back, but he quickly recovered with a birdie blitz — four in a row from holes 12 to 15. Despite another bogey on 16, he closed with a birdie on 18 to post a solid 68. At T14, Siem remains in contention for a top finish.
Ryan Gerard fires 63 to share the lead
Ryan Gerard delivered the round of the day with a nine-under-par 63. After an early bogey on the 2nd, he caught fire with birdies on 3, 5, 6, and 8 to go three under at the turn. The back nine was even more impressive, as Gerard rattled off five consecutive birdies from holes 12 to 16. He capped his day with a final birdie on 18, bringing his total to 10 birdies and vaulting him into a share of the lead.
