Jayden Schaper wins second straight DPWT title in playoff thriller

Jayden Schaper clinches the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open with a stunning chip-in eagle in a playoff, repeating last week’s win.

South Africa’s Jayden Schaper captured his second consecutive DP World Tour title in dramatic fashion at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open. Held at La Réserve Golf Links, the final event of the 2025 DP World Tour season saw Schaper edge out American Ryan Gerard in a playoff, just one week after his victory at the Alfred Dunhill Championship.

Schaper came out strong with two birdies on the front nine and an eagle on the 5th hole. He kept the momentum going on the back nine with four more birdies, carding a stellar 64 (-8) in the final round. Gerard kept pace with four birdies on the front and two more on the back, finishing with a bogey-free 66 (-6).

Both players ended regulation tied at 22-under-par, forcing a playoff. On the second extra hole, Schaper sealed the win with a spectacular chip-in eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. It marked Schaper’s second straight playoff victory, capping off a remarkable end to his 2025 season.

Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’

“The last three weeks have been incredible. I don’t even know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like this,” said an emotional Schaper. “It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course — from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas is going to be great this year, and so is the New Year.”

Fellow South African Casey Jarvis finished solo third after a steady week. His final round included four birdies and three bogeys, resulting in a 71.

Mixed results for German players in Mauritius

Germany’s Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem, who had tracked closely throughout the tournament, both struggled on the final day. Schneider started solidly but faltered on the back nine with three bogeys and a double bogey, finishing with a 78 and dropping to T37 at -4. Siem also shot +4 with a 76, matching Schneider’s final position.

Nick Bachem, the third German to make the cut, posted an even-par final round and ended T48 at -1 overall.
