Strong Moving Day for Schneider and Siem at AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open

Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem delivered impressive rounds on Saturday to climb the leaderboard at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

On Moving Day at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour, both Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem played excellent rounds to position themselves well for the final day. Schneider carded a six-under-par 66 to move up to T9, while Siem shot a 68 to sit at T14. At the top of the leaderboard are South Africa’s Casey Jarvis and American Ryan Gerard, both at 16-under-par. Gerard dazzled with a round-of-the-day 63.

DP World Tour: Schneider nearly flawless, Siem surges late

Marcel Schneider delivered a nearly flawless round on Saturday to break into the top 10. He opened his birdie account on hole 4 and followed it up with two more on holes 5 and 6. Another birdie on hole 8 was slightly offset by a bogey on the 9th—his only blemish of the day and the third consecutive day he bogeyed that hole. Unfazed, the 35-year-old added three more birdies on holes 12, 13, and 14 to finish with a 66 and climb to T9.

Marcel Siem had a slower start, with a lone birdie on hole 3 in the early going. A bogey on hole 10 initially set him back, but he bounced back with a birdie blitz from holes 12 to 15, recording four in a row. After another bogey on 16, he closed with a birdie on 18 to post a 68. At T14, Siem remains in contention for a strong finish.

Ryan Gerard catches fire with birdie streak

Ryan Gerard produced the round of the day with a nine-under-par 63. Despite a bogey on hole 2, he quickly recovered with birdies on 3, 5, 6, and 8 to go three-under on the front nine. The back nine saw a sensational run of five straight birdies from holes 12 to 16, propelling him into a share of the lead. He capped off his round with a 10th birdie on the 18th to tie for first place.
