Marc Hammer secures his Asian Tour card after a five-hole playoff at Q-School in Hua Hin. Other Germans miss the cut.
The final stage of the Asian Tour Qualifying School (Q-School) at the Lake View Resort and Golf Club in Hua Hin, Thailand, concluded with 35 players earning their cards for the 2025 season. Among them was German golfer Marc Hammer, who clinched his spot after a dramatic playoff. Chinese left-hander Lin Yuxin topped the leaderboard after five intense rounds, finishing at 16-under-par with scores of 68–67–70–67–67. His consistent performance secured him the top spot and a full Asian Tour card.
Milestone moment for Lin Yuxin
Lin’s victory marks a significant milestone in his professional career. A two-time winner of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (2017, 2019), Lin played collegiate golf at the University of Florida before turning pro in 2023. He has since competed on the PGA Tour Americas and selected Korn Ferry Tour events. Lin attributed his recent improvement to focused work on his putting: “I played well all season but struggled with the putter, especially in the summer. I worked hard in October and November, and now my game feels good again.” He added, “It’s been tough with a lot of ups and downs. Honestly, I just had to stay patient. I’ve learned a lot since turning pro—it’s been a valuable experience.”
India’s Shaurya Bhattacharya followed closely behind, finishing second at 15-under-par after rounds of 70–67–65–66–72. A final-round 72 with four bogeys cost him the top spot. Canadian Henry Lee secured third place at 14-under-par.
Marc Hammer wins playoff to secure Asian Tour card
The battle for the final tour cards was fierce, as 12 players tied at five-under-par (T28) entered a playoff for the remaining eight spots. After five playoff holes, eight players emerged with cards, including Germany’s Marc Hammer. The 27-year-old from Sandhausen delivered a steady performance throughout the week, finishing with rounds of 71–67–72–70–70. His consistent play earned him a well-deserved place on the Asian Tour. Hammer previously competed on the DP World Tour, where he recorded three top-10 finishes last season.
Other German participants, including Nicolas Horder (T93), Philipp Katich (T100), Wolfgang Glawe (T118), and Julius Kreutzer (T118), failed to make the cut after the fourth round.
