DP World Tour: Schneider and Siem in Contention After Strong Moving Day

Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem impressed on Moving Day at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open and head into the final round in strong positions.

At the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour, both Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem delivered strong performances on Saturday to move up the leaderboard ahead of the final round. Schneider carded a six-under-par 66 to climb into a tie for ninth, while Siem shot a four-under 68 to sit T14. The tournament is currently led by South Africa’s Casey Jarvis and American Ryan Gerard, both at 16-under-par. Gerard dazzled with a round-of-the-day 63.

DP World Tour: Schneider nearly flawless, Siem surges late

Marcel Schneider played a nearly flawless round to break into the top 10. After opening with a birdie on the 4th, he added two more on holes 5 and 6. Another birdie came on the 8th, before his only blemish of the day—a bogey on the 9th, where he had also dropped shots in the previous two rounds. Unfazed, the 35-year-old added three more birdies on the back nine (holes 12, 13, and 14) to finish with a 66 and move to T9.

Marcel Siem had a slower start, with a lone birdie on the 3rd. A bogey on the 10th set him back, but he responded with a flurry of four consecutive birdies from holes 12 to 15. Despite a second bogey on the 16th, he closed with a birdie on 18 to sign for a 68 and sit T14, still within reach of a top finish.

Ryan Gerard surges with birdie blitz

Ryan Gerard produced the round of the day with a sizzling nine-under 63. After a bogey on the 2nd, he caught fire with birdies on holes 3, 5, 6, and 8 to go out in 33. The back nine featured a stunning run of five straight birdies from holes 12 to 16, capped off with another birdie on the 18th. His 10 birdies on the day propelled him into a share of the lead at 16-under-par.
