Jayden Schaper claims back-to-back DP World Tour titles with a stunning chip-in eagle at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.
South African Jayden Schaper continued his winning streak on the DP World Tour by capturing the 2025 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open title in spectacular fashion. Just a week after his playoff victory at the Alfred Dunhill Championship, Schaper once again triumphed in extra holes—this time with a dramatic chip-in eagle on the second playoff hole to defeat American Ryan Gerard.
Competing at La Réserve Golf Links on the picturesque island of Mauritius, Schaper opened his final round with two birdies and an eagle on the fifth hole. He maintained his momentum on the back nine with four more birdies, carding a bogey-free 64 (-8). Gerard kept the pressure on with a 66 (-6), featuring six birdies and no bogeys, forcing a playoff as both players finished at 22-under-par.
In the playoff, Schaper delivered a highlight-reel moment by holing out from off the green for eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. The win marks Schaper’s second consecutive DP World Tour title, both secured in playoffs, capping off a sensational end to his 2025 season.
Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’
Speaking after his victory, an emotional Schaper reflected on his remarkable run: ‘The last three weeks have been incredible. I don’t know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like that. It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course—from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas is going to be great this year, and so is the new year.’
Fellow South African Casey Jarvis finished solo third. Despite a steady showing throughout the tournament, Jarvis struggled on the final day with three bogeys and four birdies, ending with a 71.
Mixed results for German players on final day
Germany’s Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider, who had been closely matched throughout the tournament, both faltered in the final round. Schneider, who started solidly with just one bogey on the front nine, stumbled on the back nine with three more bogeys and a double bogey at the 12th, finishing with a 78 and dropping to T37 at -4. Siem also struggled, carding a 76 (+4) with three birdies offset by three double bogeys and two bogeys, matching Schneider’s final position.
Nick Bachem, the third German to make the cut, shot even par on Sunday to finish T48 at -1 overall.
