Jayden Schaper wins AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in playoff thriller

Jayden Schaper secures back-to-back DP World Tour titles with a stunning chip-in eagle at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

South African Jayden Schaper claimed his second consecutive DP World Tour victory by winning the 2025 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in dramatic fashion. Held at La Réserve Golf Links, Schaper triumphed in a playoff for the second week in a row, this time edging out American Ryan Gerard with a spectacular chip-in eagle on the second playoff hole.

Schaper started the final round strong with two birdies on the front nine and an eagle on the 5th hole. He maintained his momentum on the back nine, adding four more birdies to card an impressive 64 (-8). Gerard kept the pressure on throughout, posting a bogey-free 66 (-6) with four birdies on the front and two more on the back.

Both players finished the tournament at 22-under-par, forcing a playoff. On the second extra hole, Schaper sealed the win with a dramatic chip-in eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. The victory marks Schaper’s second straight win on the DP World Tour, both achieved via playoffs.

Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’

Following his win, an emotional Schaper reflected on his performance: “The last three weeks have been incredible. I don’t know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like that. It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course—from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas is going to be great this year, and so is the New Year.”

Fellow South African Casey Jarvis secured solo third place after a steady week near the top of the leaderboard. His final round included four birdies and three bogeys, resulting in a 71.

Mixed results for German players

German golfers Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider, who had been closely matched throughout the tournament, both struggled on the final day. Schneider, after a solid front nine with just one bogey, faltered on the back nine with three more bogeys and a double bogey on the 12th, finishing with a 78 and dropping to T37 at -4. Siem also had a tough day, carding a 76 (+4) with three birdies offset by three double bogeys and two bogeys, landing him at the same T37 position.

Nick Bachem was the third German to make the cut. He shot even par in the final round and finished T48 at -1 overall.
