Schneider and Siem Climb Leaderboard at AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open

Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem impressed on Moving Day at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, entering the final round in strong positions.

At the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour, both Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem delivered strong performances on Saturday to position themselves well for the final round. Schneider carded a six-under-par 66 to move up to T9, while Siem’s four-under 68 placed him at T14. The tournament is currently led by South Africa’s Casey Jarvis and American Ryan Gerard, both at 16-under-par. Gerard’s standout round of 63 was the best of the day.

DP World Tour: Schneider nearly flawless, Siem surges late

Marcel Schneider played a nearly flawless round to break into the top 10. He started with a birdie on the 4th hole, followed by back-to-back birdies on 5 and 6. After another birdie on the 8th, his only blemish came on the 9th, where he made his lone bogey of the day—his third consecutive bogey on that hole this week. Unfazed, the 35-year-old added three more birdies on the back nine (holes 12, 13, and 14) to finish with a 66.

Marcel Siem had a slower start, with only one birdie on the front nine at hole 3. A bogey on 10 set him back, but he bounced back with a hot streak—four consecutive birdies from holes 12 to 15. After another bogey on 16, he closed with a birdie on 18 to finish with a 68. At T14, Siem remains in contention for a top finish.

Ryan Gerard catches fire with birdie streak

Ryan Gerard delivered the round of the day with a nine-under-par 63. Despite a bogey on hole 2, he quickly recovered with birdies on 3, 5, 6, and 8 to go three-under on the front nine. The back nine was even more spectacular, as Gerard rattled off five straight birdies from holes 12 to 16. He capped off the round with a final birdie on 18, bringing his birdie total to ten and vaulting him into a share of the lead.
