Breaking: Telekom Secures Extensive Golf Rights for Magenta TV

Starting January 2026, Magenta TV will broadcast PGA, DP World, and Champions Tour events. Sky retains the Majors.

Golf fans in Germany will see a major shift in TV coverage beginning in January 2026. After years of exclusive broadcasting by Sky, Deutsche Telekom has acquired the rights to air PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Champions Tour events via its Magenta TV platform. The deal runs through 2029 and includes 131 tournaments in the first year alone. Additionally, Magenta TV will broadcast the Ryder Cup in 2027 and 2029. However, Sky will continue to air all men’s and women’s Major tournaments.

300 Days of Live Golf on Magenta TV

The new rights package includes approximately 300 days of live golf annually across two newly launched channels—MS Golf 1 and MS Golf 2—available on Magenta TV starting January 2026. The channels will feature full tournament broadcasts, player features, current stories, and historical content. On-demand content will also be available. MS Golf 1 will focus on full tournament coverage, while MS Golf 2 will offer supplementary content. Coverage kicks off on January 15 with the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Dubai Invitational. The service will be included at no extra cost for all Magenta TV subscribers, including those with MagentaSport packages.

“Golf has found a new home on MagentaTV. With this package, we offer Germany’s most comprehensive live golf coverage ever. From the first tee shots to the final putts, we present each tournament live, informative, and in a modern format,” said Arnim Butzen, Head of TV at Telekom.

Sky Retains the Majors

Despite losing a significant portion of golf broadcasting rights, Sky will continue to air all Major tournaments in the coming years. This includes the most prestigious events in golf alongside the Ryder Cup. Sky will also retain rights to the Solheim Cup and all five women’s Majors, maintaining a strong presence in elite golf coverage.

For fans wanting to follow weekly golf action and the sport’s biggest tournaments, two subscriptions—Magenta TV and Sky—will be necessary moving forward.
