Jayden Schaper wins back-to-back DP World Tour titles in playoffs

Jayden Schaper claims the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open with a dramatic playoff chip-in, marking his second straight DPWT win.

South African Jayden Schaper has done it again. Just a week after winning the Alfred Dunhill Championship, the 24-year-old triumphed at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour, held at La Réserve Golf Links. In a thrilling finish, Schaper edged out American Ryan Gerard in a playoff, securing victory with a spectacular chip-in eagle on the second extra hole.

Schaper started strong with two birdies on the front nine and added an eagle on the fifth hole. He maintained momentum on the back nine with four more birdies, carding an impressive final round of 64 (-8). Gerard kept the pressure on throughout, posting a bogey-free 66 (-6) with six birdies, which brought both players to a 22-under-par total and forced a playoff.

In the playoff, Schaper delivered a moment of magic, holing out from off the green for eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. It marked Schaper’s second consecutive win on the DP World Tour, both achieved via playoffs, capping off a stellar end to his 2025 season.

Jayden Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’

Speaking after the win, an emotional Schaper reflected on his recent success: ‘The last three weeks have been incredible. I don’t know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like this. It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course—from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas is going to be great this year and so will the New Year.’

Fellow South African Casey Jarvis secured third place after a steady performance throughout the week. His final round of 71 included four birdies and three bogeys, leaving him just short of the playoff.

Mixed results for German players in Mauritius

Germany’s Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider both struggled on the final day. Schneider, who had been in solid form, faltered on the back nine with three bogeys and a double bogey, finishing with a 78 and dropping to T37 at -4. Siem also had a tough day, with three birdies offset by two bogeys and three double bogeys, ending with a 76 and sharing 37th place with Schneider.

Nick Bachem, the third German to make the cut, shot an even-par round on Sunday and finished T48 at -1 overall.
