Marc Hammer secures his Asian Tour card in Hua Hin after a playoff. Other German players miss the cut after round four.
The final stage of the Asian Tour Qualifying School (Q-School) at the Lake View Resort and Golf Club in Hua Hin, Thailand, saw 35 players earn their Asian Tour cards. Among them was German golfer Marc Hammer. After five intense days of competition, China’s Lin Yuxin topped the leaderboard, finishing at 16-under-par to lead the Q-School rankings. The left-hander impressed with a final-round 67 (-4), continuing his strong form from earlier rounds (68–67–70–67).
Milestone moment for Lin Yuxin
Yuxin’s victory marks a significant milestone in the career of the highly regarded golfer. A two-time Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship winner (2017, 2019), he played college golf at the University of Florida before turning professional in 2023. He has since competed on the PGA Tour Americas and in select Korn Ferry Tour events. Yuxin cited mental struggles with putting as a key challenge: “I played well all season but had trouble with the putter, especially in the summer. I worked hard on it in October and November, and my game has felt good since then.” He added, “It’s been tough, with many ups and downs. Honestly, I just had to stay patient. I’ve learned a lot since turning pro—it’s been a valuable experience.”
India’s Shaurya Bhattacharya followed closely behind, finishing second at 15-under-par after rounds of 70–67–65–66, though a final-round 72 with four bogeys cost him the top spot. Canadian Henry Lee claimed third place at 14-under-par.
Marc Hammer clinches Asian Tour card in playoff
The battle for the final Tour cards came down to a dramatic playoff. Twelve players tied at five-under-par (T28) competed for the remaining eight spots. The playoff extended over five holes, with eight players ultimately securing their cards—including Germany’s Marc Hammer. The 27-year-old from Sandhausen delivered a steady performance throughout the week, closing with a 70 (-2) to complement his earlier rounds of 71–67–72–70. Hammer, who has previous experience on the DP World Tour, proved his competitiveness last season with three top-10 finishes.
Other German participants—Nicolas Horder (T93), Philipp Katich (T100), Wolfgang Glawe (T118), and Julius Kreutzer (T118)—missed the cut after the fourth round and did not qualify for the Tour.
