Starting January 2026, Magenta TV will broadcast PGA, DP World, and Champions Tour events. Majors remain with Sky.
Golf fans in Germany will see a major shift in TV coverage beginning in January 2026. After years of exclusive broadcasting by Sky, Deutsche Telekom has secured the rights to air tournaments from the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Champions Tour via its Magenta TV platform. The deal runs through 2029 and includes 131 tournaments in the first year alone. Additionally, Magenta TV will broadcast the Ryder Cup in 2027 and 2029. However, Sky retains the rights to all men’s and women’s Major Championships.
300 Days of Live Golf on Magenta TV
The new rights package includes approximately 300 days of live golf annually across two newly launched channels—MS Golf 1 and MS Golf 2—set to debut on Magenta TV in January 2026. The coverage will feature full-length broadcasts of all tournaments, player features, current stories, and historical content. MS Golf 1 will air complete tournament coverage, while MS Golf 2 will offer additional content. The programming kicks off on January 15 with the Sony Open in Hawaii and the Dubai Invitational. All content will be available at no extra cost to Magenta TV subscribers and included in all packages. MagentaSport customers will also have access through their existing subscriptions.
“Golf has found a new home on MagentaTV. With this package, we’re offering Germany’s most comprehensive live golf coverage ever. From the first tee shots to the final putts, we’ll present each tournament like never before—live, informative, and with a modern storytelling approach,” said Arnim Butzen, Head of TV at Telekom.
Sky Retains Major Championships
Despite losing a significant portion of golf broadcasting rights, Sky will continue to air all Major Championships in the coming years. This includes the most prestigious events in the sport, alongside the Ryder Cup. Sky also retains rights to the Solheim Cup and all five women’s Majors, ensuring it remains a key player in top-tier golf coverage.
To follow weekly live golf action and the sport’s biggest tournaments, fans will need to subscribe to both Magenta TV and Sky moving forward.
