Jayden Schaper clinches the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open title with a dramatic chip-in eagle in a playoff.
South African Jayden Schaper secured his second consecutive DP World Tour victory by winning the 2025 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in spectacular fashion. Held at La Réserve Golf Links, Schaper edged out American Ryan Gerard in a playoff with a stunning chip-in eagle on the second extra hole.
Schaper, 24, started strong with two birdies on the front nine and added an eagle on the 5th. He continued his momentum on the back nine with four more birdies, finishing the final round with an impressive 64 (-8). Gerard kept the pressure on with a bogey-free 66 (-6), featuring six birdies, which brought both players to a tie at 22-under-par after 72 holes.
In the playoff, Schaper delivered a highlight-reel moment by holing out from off the green for eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. The win marks Schaper’s second straight DP World Tour title, following his triumph at the Alfred Dunhill Championship the previous week.
Schaper on his win: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’
Speaking after his victory, an emotional Schaper reflected on his incredible run: ‘The last three weeks have been unbelievable. I don’t know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like that. It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course—from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas is going to be great this year, and so will the New Year.’
Fellow South African Casey Jarvis finished third after a final round of 71, which included four birdies and three bogeys. Jarvis had been in contention throughout the tournament but couldn’t keep pace on the final day.
Mixed results for German players in Mauritius
Germany’s Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider both struggled on the final day. Schneider, who had a steady front nine, faltered on the back nine with three bogeys and a double bogey on the 12th, carding a 78 and finishing tied for 37th at -4. Siem also had a tough round, with three birdies offset by three double bogeys and two bogeys, ending with a 76 and the same total score as Schneider.
Nick Bachem, the third German to make the cut, shot even par in the final round and finished tied for 48th at -1 overall.
