Strong Moving Day for Schneider and Siem at AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open

Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem delivered strong rounds on Saturday to climb the leaderboard at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

On Moving Day at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour, both Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem positioned themselves well ahead of the final round. Schneider carded a six-under 66 to move into a tie for ninth, while Siem shot a 68 to sit tied for 14th. At the top of the leaderboard are South Africa’s Casey Jarvis and American Ryan Gerard, both at 16-under-par. Gerard dazzled with a round-of-the-day 63.

DP World Tour: Schneider nearly flawless, Siem surges late

Marcel Schneider played a nearly flawless round to break into the top 10. After his first birdie on hole 4, he followed up with back-to-back birdies on 5 and 6. Another birdie on 8 was slightly offset by a bogey on 9—his only blemish of the day and the same hole that troubled him on previous rounds. Unfazed, the 35-year-old added three more birdies on holes 12, 13, and 14 to finish with a 66 and climb to T9.

Marcel Siem had a slower start, with only one birdie on the front nine at hole 3. A bogey on 10 set him back, but he responded with a flurry of four consecutive birdies from holes 12 to 15. After another bogey on 16, he closed strong with a birdie on 18 to finish with a 68. At T14, Siem remains in contention for a strong finish.

Ryan Gerard catches fire with birdie streak

Ryan Gerard posted the best round of the day with a nine-under 63. Despite an early bogey on hole 2, he rebounded with birdies on 3, 5, 6, and 8 to go out in 33. The back nine was even more impressive, as Gerard rattled off five straight birdies from holes 12 to 16. He capped his round with a final birdie on 18, bringing his total to 10 birdies and vaulting him into a share of the lead.
